New Date Set For Tokyo Olympics: July 23, 2021

After being postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tokyo Summer Olympics have been rescheduled to open on July 23, 2021, Tokyo 2020 organizers announced Monday morning. The 2021 Olympic Games in all will run from July 23rd to August 8th.
Before IOC president Thomas Bach made the announcement Monday morning, he told sports federations on a conference call that the date was chosen and communicated to give organizers the maximum amount of time to reset after the coronavirus crisis, according to The NY Times. A call for a show of support was given unanimously by the federations.
The date will now gives athletes and coaches a chance to reset their training schedules.
