PARIS, FRANCE - Team USA women continue their dream run at the Olympics, as Amit Elor wins gold and Sarah Hildebrandt advances to the Olympic finals on Day 2 in Paris. U.S. women have yet to lose a match, going undefeated in the first two days of competition.

”I just can’t believe I’m an Olympic champion,” Elor told NBC reporter after the match. “I just can’t comprehend it!”

The Californian put together an efficient match with stingy defense and just enough offense to secure a 3-0 win over Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova. 20-year-old Elor adds Olympic gold to her two senior level world titles. She’s the youngest American wrestler ever to win an Olympic gold medal.

Hildebrandt began her Olympic journey with a 10-0 first round win over Algeria’s Ibtissem Doudou and followed it up with a 7-4 win in quarters over China’s Ziqi Feng, a tight match that was 5-4 with less than 30 seconds on the clock. In the semis, Hildebrandt pitched a 5-0 shut out over Mongolia’s Otgonjargal Dolgorjav, an opponent that Hildebrandt had previously lost to twice. Hildebrandt’s win guaranteed a silver medal, already outperforming her last Olympics, where she took the bronze. She’ll face India’s Vinesh Phogat for gold tomorrow, an opponent that pulled a shocking upset over Japan’s Yui Susaki in the opening round. Susaki was the returning gold medalist and had been 82-0 in international competition until the loss.
